What is it?
A Someone Cares bag is a 1 gallon ziplock storage bag with several essential items of value to those living in homelessness. Bags generally contain the following, though they can vary depending on the time of the year:
- Bottled water
- Cheese/peanut crackers
- Other snacks
- New washcloth
- Pack of body wipes (gender specific)
- Alcohol wipes and band aids
- Q-tip squabs
- New pair of white athletic socks
- Antiperspirant (gender specific)
- A prayer card
- Resources card
If you would like to donate any of these items, most are available at the dollar store. Bags are stuffed in batches of 12 to 24, so donations in-kind in those numbers are desired. A $12 or $24 investment helps us pack another 12 to 24 bags.
Where do they go?
These bags are either delivered directly to the homeless where they camp, panhandle and hang out during the day, or delivered directly to the homeless at intersections (where safe) and other locations.
